Description

Proposed changes flowing from the former Council of Australian Government’s Trajectory for Low Energy Buildings project1 (the trajectory) are expected to reduce annual electricity consumption of new and refurbished residential and commercial premises by 36 TWh by 2050, compared to current standards. This would represent a 15% overall reduction in Australia’s future electricity consumption relative to the baseline and could materially impact the industry’s long-term infrastructure plans depending on how consumption reductions translate into reductions in peak demand – the key driver infrastructure needs.
