Bali's New Clean Energy Guidelines

Collaboratively develop Bali’s new Clean Energy Policy

Project Overview

In partnership with the Governor of Bail, GBPN is developing Bali’s Clean Energy Policy, implementing new guidelines to accelerate the successful adoption of low-carbon buildings.

The immediate focus is on residential buildings across two pilot sites —the City of Denpasar and the Regency of Gianyar. We are providing important Technical Assistance in the following areas:

  • Preparation of a Standard Operating Procedure as a guideline for the implementation of the Bali Clean Energy policy
  • Develop capacity building focusing on the successful implementation of the Bali Clean Energy Guidelines
  • Creating engagement strategies tailored to a ‘local plan’, working with local experts wherever possible.

Our Focus — Asia

By 2050 there will be 280 billion m2 more buildings than today — primarily in Asia.

Collectively, India, Indonesia and S.E. Asian Countries are already among the largest sources of building sector greenhouse emissions. GBPN’s aim is to collaboratively reform energy regulations and housing policy, focusing on the regions where we will have the biggest impact.

The way we build has to change — but change can’t happen without the right people.

That's why we're committed to bringing the right voices together at a local level.

In Asia we have already had significant recent success, delivering projects and forming active coalitions across Indonesia, Cambodia and India — with more to follow.

Our coalitions of experts and building practitioners work with governments to support, educate and build change; while our resources and insights are bringing the latest knowledge to the front-line.

We're enabling low-energy building practices to become mainstreamed; reducing emissions and improving the health and well-being of residents. We're mitigating the costs of today and tomorrow. Together we can decarbonise the Asia buildings sector from 2030.
